Give AI a pass,
not your keys.
Privato sits between your AI apps and your email, calendar, files and Slack. Each question gets a pass to just what it needs, and the pass expires on its own. Anything sensitive waits for your OK.
Open source under AGPL-3.0. Use ours, or run your own.

Alex’s inbox is made up. A real AI model answers, and it only sees what Privato lets through.
Every pass shows up in Privato.
Privato’s dashboard shows each pass as it happens: which app asked, what it got, and how long it has left. You can end any pass early.
A replay of the Privato dashboard. ChatGPT asks to read tax emails and files, you allow it, and it gets a ten-minute pass. Claude searches for bank statements on a pass meant for a Tokyo trip, and Privato stops it. When ChatGPT's ten minutes are up, its access ends.
ChatGPT asks. It wants your tax emails and files. Money is sensitive, so the request waits for you.
Every request, search and read gets checked.
Here’s what happens when an app oversteps, and what you’d see in Privato. Every case below is covered by Privato’s tests.
An agent asked to read your whole inbox at once.
11:20 AMBlocked Home agent
It tried to collect your entire inbox
Claude had a pass for flight emails, then used it to search for bank statements.

It searched for something unrelated to what you asked
An email told the AI to go find your password reset codes. ChatGPT got the sender and subject, but not the body.

At 3 AM, an app asked for twelve hours of access on its own.
3:07 AMChatGPT asked for your permission
The app is acting on its own, not because you asked
Cursor showed up with a pass you gave to Claude.

Sensitive requests come to your phone.
By default, anything that touches money, health, passwords or sign-in codes waits for you, and so does anything that looks off. You get a notification. Allow it with one tap, or ignore it and the app gets nothing.
You can also set offline hours, when nothing goes through on its own and requests wait without a notification. If Privato can’t run a check, the request comes to you instead of going through. And every pass has a Stop button, on your phone and on the web.
How careful should Privato be?
Pick a mode for each AI app. You can change it anytime, and it applies from the app’s next request.
| When an app asks for… | Cautious | Standard | Relaxed |
|---|---|---|---|
| “Summarize today’s unread email” | Asks you | Goes through | Goes through |
| “Find my 1099 for my taxes” | Asks you | Asks you | Goes through |
| “What’s my bank’s sign-in code?” | Asks you | Asks you | Asks you |
| “Read everything in my inbox” | Blocked | Blocked | Blocked |
In every mode, Privato blocks requests for everything at once or for more than 24 hours, stops off-topic searches, and holds requests during your offline hours.
Setup takes a few minutes.
You keep using ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor the way you do now. When they need your data, they ask Privato.
Connect your accounts
Sign in with Google, then connect Gmail, Calendar, Drive or Slack, with as many accounts as you like. Those four are read-only. You can add your own connectors too.

Add Privato to your AI app
Paste this link where your app adds connectors. Your app sends you to Privato to sign in, and you click Allow.

- Settings > Apps & Connectors > Create
- Claude
- Settings > Connectors > Add custom connector
- Cursor
- Add it as an MCP server
Ask like you always do
When your app needs your data, it asks Privato for a pass. Most requests go through on their own, and the rest come to you.

Privato is open source.
The API, the dashboard and the rules that decide what each app sees are all on GitHub under AGPL-3.0. Read exactly what happens to your data, or run your own copy.

Questions
Can the AI see my passwords, or sign in as me?
No. Your Google and Slack sign-ins stay with Privato, encrypted. An AI app only ever holds a pass, and a pass reads just what it covers, until it expires.
What exactly can an AI app see?
What its pass covers, like emails from united.com about boarding. Its own searches run inside that filter, so it can’t reach anything else.
Can it change or send anything?
Gmail, Calendar, Drive and Slack are read-only. If you add your own connector, tools that can change things ask you first unless you say otherwise.
What if an email tries to trick the AI?
Privato checks what an app is about to read for instructions aimed at the AI. If it finds some, the app gets the sender and subject but not the body, you get an alert, and the rest of that access is watched more closely.
How does Privato know what I asked?
Your AI app passes your question along with each request. Privato can’t see your chat, so it can’t prove you asked. That’s why anything unusual or sensitive comes to you.
What happens if Privato can’t run a check?
The request comes to you instead of going through. Searches inside a pass you already gave keep working, still limited to that pass.
Which AI apps work with Privato?
Any app that supports MCP connectors with sign-in, including ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor. Apps that can’t sign in can use a key instead.
Try it with your own inbox.
Connect a Google account, add the link to ChatGPT or Claude, and ask something. Every pass shows up on your Home screen while it’s open.
